You might quietly remind them, though, that "furry" is primarily a
fandom, not a fetish.


I'm way ahead of you.  The initial e-mail I received almost two weeks ago 
was a bit vague and seemed ignorant of the idea that it is a Fandom.  So I 
wrote back and gave them a little more information on the fandom and it's 
primary interest, anthropomorphics in it's various forms and  media.  The 
reply I got back was quite apologetic and the writer admitted to being 
"Other-kin" and we know how sensitive they are.

We exchanged another round of e-mails before I was comfortable enough to 
"spread the word."

I'm not blind to the fact that there are those in the fandom who are also 
into BDSM and other Fetishes.  If they want to attend this event, support a 
worthy cause and have a grand evening doing it who am I to judge.

I'm still not happy that they're using the "Plushie and Furries" moniker, 
obviously taken from MTV's Sex2K train wreck on the fandom, but my words of 
caution regarding that image was too little too late I'm afraid.
