"He shaved the faces of gentlemen who never thereafter were heard of again."
I first saw Sweeney Todd in March of 1987. It was George Hearn* and Angela Lansbury back then. It's been one of my favorite musicals ever since, probably because of the sheer evil in its humor.
Now I am anxious to see how Tim Burton, a man well known for evil humor, pulls it off. I intend to do so this upcoming Sunday, December 23, at the UA King of Prussia Stadium 16 and Imax theater, at the 11:00 AM showing (or the first showing of that day, if Fandango got the time wrong). My intention is to wait in the lobby for anyone who wishes to join me until a point of time precisely 10 minutes before showtime, when I shall go in with whatever company and we shall find our seats.
Don't be late. Sweeney's waiting.
*(Mr. Hearn, incidentally, provided the voice of Dr. Hackle in my favorite animated series Swat Kats.)
