[Pa-furry] The provisions for Minors at Furry Weekend...

Thanks for the input BF on the question of minors at the Furry Weekend.
However, the official word is that we do have provisions to allow guests 16
or 17 years of age to attend without a parent or legal guardian if they fill
out and notarize a parental consent form. This document signifies that said
parent or legal guardian is aware that their young adult is in attendance at
the event and reduces embarrassing confrontations between the event staff,
said parents and law enforcement officials.
This form is not required if the under aged guest is attending accompanied
by their parent or legal guardian and if they are within reasonable
proximity of that parent or legal guardian throughout the weekend event.
Yeah, it's sounds like legal mumbo-jumbo, but it's something we have to
stick by for the protection of our under aged friends, our other guests, the
staff and director of the event. This isn't any different than other furry
cons and large meets ask for from their young guests.
This is spelled out better on the event's registration page which will be
available when that portion of the site goes Live on May 1. Further
questions may be directed to me at event AT wpafw.org.
I hope this helps.

I don't know if this has ever been addressed, or if it even CAN be
addressed ... but what about "kids" and their NON-furry parents?
Occasionally I run into older teenagers who would LOVE to be in furry
fandom more, and would even love to attend a con, but they're afraid of
what their parents might think or say, especially after the attempted
poisoning of the fandom through the media (last year at AC I was *still*
hearing non-furs referring to "CSI" and wanted to grab them by the
shoulders and shake vigorously). Is there ANYthing that we can do to
educate the parents so they know their kids *won't* come back in as bear
suit-wearing homosexuals looking for anatomically-correct plushies?
Thanks!
And good luck with the con, I hope I can FINALLY attend this year!
